The EBikeGo company, which rents out electric bicycles, has released its brand of electric scooter. Electric moto-scooter EBikeGo Rugged G1 starts at Rs 84,999 and is promoted as India’s hardest e-scooter. It’s worth noting that EBikeGo is not the manufacturer; before, the company’s rental fleet consisted exclusively of Hero Electric scooters.
Now, the company has partnered with Boom Motors, based in Tamil Nadu, and the Rugged G1 looks to be a rebranded version of Boom’s e-scooter, the Boom Corbett. EBikeGo claims that the Rugged G1 would be made in Coimbatore at a factory that will soon be able to produce one million units. There will be both single- and dual-battery options for the Rugged G1.
Power, mileage, and range
While the Rugged G1’s exposed steel cradle frame and bulky proportions may give the impression that it could be better put together, EBikeGo stands by the bike’s durability claims by providing a seven-year warranty on the chassis.
- Price: The Rugged has two price points: Rs 84,999 for the single-battery G1 and Rs 1,04,999 for the dual-battery G1+, with an additional Rs 5,000 off for the first thousand purchasers. The G1 costs Rs 27,000, and the G1+ costs Rs 54,000, both of which have the FAME-II subsidy.
- Charger: Using a regular 15A wall connection and the EBikeGo charger, it takes four hours to charge the G1 fully.
- Features: The G1 features one lithium-ion battery that provides 1.9 kWh, whereas the G1+ has two. EBikeGo says replacing the IP67 dust- and water-resistant batteries takes as little as 60 seconds. The portable batteries fit under the handlebar and below the under-seat storage.
- Top Speed: When set to Eco mode (maximum speed of 35 kph), the Rugged G1 is said to have a real range of more than 80 kilometers, while the Rugged G1+ boasts a range of more than 160 kilometers. With the G1’s top speed increased to 75 kph.
in Power mode, the battery life drastically decreases to 135 km. - Charging Time: The manufacturer estimates that the EBikeGo charges with a regular 15 A wall outlet will take four hours to charge the batteries fully. No fast-charging capabilities are available.
- Warranty: The vehicle, battery, and charger are all covered under a 3-year/20,000-kilometer warranty from EBikeGo, and the company also offers extended warranty plans.
- Output: EBikeGo boasts that their first electric two-wheeler in India is powered by a BLDC hub motor with a nominal output of 1.5 kW (2 hp) and a peak output of 3 kW (4 hp).

Comparison of the Rugged G1 Electric Scooter with other popular electric scooters
In a market flooded with various electric scooters, it’s crucial to understand how the Rugged G1 stacks up against its competitors. When compared to other popular electric scooters, the Rugged G1 shines in terms of performance, durability, and affordability.
Unlike many e-scooters that offer limited motor power, the Rugged G1’s 500-watt motor provides a significant advantage in terms of speed and acceleration. This extra power ensures a smoother and more enjoyable ride, especially when tackling uphill slopes or rough terrains. Additionally, the Rugged G1’s sturdy construction and robust build quality make it a reliable choice for riders seeking a durable and long-lasting scooter.
When it comes to price, the Rugged G1 offers exceptional value for money. Compared to other high-end electric scooters in the market, the Rugged G1 provides similar features and performance at a more affordable price point. This makes it an attractive option for budget-conscious riders who want the best bang for their buck.
Wrapping Up
Although it appears to be designed for business use due to its relatively simple exterior, According to EBikeGo’s founder and CEO, Irfan Khan: The G1 is available to everyone in the public market. Keeping the Chinese kit-assembled vehicles out of the equation, the current market has a lot of enthusiasts but few affordable solutions. We want to dominate the low-priced business-to-consumer market.
